A collection of funds dedicated to equity and visibility for the transgender and non-binary members of our community, in honor of Transgender Day of Visibility.

Across the world, women are generally underrepresented in the technology industry. According to the National Center for Women & Information Technology, women only accounted for 25% of people working in tech. Of that number, Black and Latina women account for 3% and Asian women 5%. Shutterstock has partnered with organizations like Women Who Code, Black Girls Code, GTA Black Women in Tech and Latinas in Tech to help increase representation of women at Shutterstock and in the industry. February is Black History Month when we recognize the accomplishments of Black Americans. This year, the theme of the month is African Americans and the Arts to recognize “the many impacts Black Americans have had on visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more.” This fund supports the charities that support the African American community by promoting economic and social justice for Black Americans, fighting racism and intolerance in the United States, and supporting the contributions of African Americans in the arts. The composition of nonprofits in this fund may be subject to change.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a historic achievement for the global human rights movement, was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948. The UDHR serves as a guideline for human rights that should be universally protected amongst all nations, and has inspired significant progress in the fight for human rights on a global scale since its adoption. International Human Rights Day is recognized globally on December 10th, as the movement for human rights remains underway. Your donation to this Fund will help support the selected organizations continue to fight for human rights globally in order to ensure that fundamental human rights are recognized and protected across the world.

Transgender Awareness Week is celebrated from November 13th through November 19th each year, and aims to increase public knowledge surrounding the common issues faced by the transgender community including discrimination and prejudice in various forms, socioeconomic and healthcare inequities, and acts of violence, among others. Additionally, Transgender Awareness Week highlights the importance of trans visibility in all spaces, showcases stories and experiences from within the transgender community, and encourages allies to stand in solidarity by showing their support and commitment to working towards justice and equality. Transgender Awareness Week precedes Transgender Day of Remembrance, observed annually on November 20th. Transgender Day of Remembrance memorializes the lives lost to targeted, anti-transgender violence and advocates for the fight for justice. In addition to supporting nonprofit organizations with a donation, you can participate by organizing or attending a vigil to honor those who have lost their lives to targeted acts of violence. Your donation to this Fund will help support the selected organizations' shared mission of providing support in all forms to the transgender community, increasing trans visibility, and advocating for justice and inclusion through direct client services, policy development, and educational programming.

AMG believes that it is important to support organizations providing humanitarian aid to vulnerable, innocent civilians amid tremendous loss and violence. Humanitarian Support for Israel / Gaza Conflict has been created to support humanitarian aid in the region, and is composed of pre-vetted charitable organizations focused on this effort. A single donation to Humanitarian Support for Israel / Gaza Conflict will aid this group of nonprofits that are mobilizing resources to help those who are most vulnerable during this conflict.

Founder and chef, Kyo Pang will give a speech prior to the movie screening, where we explore the lived LGBTQ+ experiences within the Asian diaspora.

Domestic violence cases are increasing in India. This fund aims to provide for victims of domestic abuse irrespective of their gender, including Children.

Since August 2021, the Taliban banned education for girls above 6th grade in Afghanistan. This put a stop to school projects in the region led by Sahar. Instead of giving up on the girls of the region, we have embraced new ways of working with local teachers and organizations to improve equity for girls in Afghanistan through multiple programs in partnership with local organizations. Current programs focus on literacy, computer skills, English, women's empowerment, sewing, and coding! Education is a fundamental right that should be accessible to everyone, regardless of gender. However, in Afghanistan, women and girls have faced numerous educational challenges. Helping to educate women and girls in Afghanistan is a matter of equal rights and a critical step toward building a brighter and more inclusive future for the country. Investing in girls' education can empower them to become leaders, change-makers, and community contributors. Providing educational opportunities to Afghan women and girls can also have a ripple effect, as educated women are more likely to marry later, have healthier families, and be active participants in the workforce. Furthermore, education can play a crucial role in breaking the cycle of poverty by equipping women with the skills and knowledge needed to secure better job opportunities. Our moral duty is to support organizations and initiatives working tirelessly to educate women and girls in Afghanistan as they strive to overcome societal obstacles and create a more equitable society. Together, we can help create a world where all individuals have the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to the betterment of their communities.

Thank you for wanting to get involved in accessibility advocacy after attending the Accessibility Keynote Fireside Chat with Jennison Asuncion. Jennison co-founded Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) in 2012. Happening on the third Thursday each May, GAAD calls upon the tech community to learn about and experience digital access issues encountered by people with disabilities. On the occasion of GAAD's 10th anniversary in 2021, he co-founded the GAAD Foundation, whose mission is to disrupt the culture of technology and digital product development to include accessibility as a core requirement. Jennison has been working in digital accessibility since 2006, beginning on Royal Bank of Canada (RBC's) IT Accessibility Team in Toronto. He was recruited to the Silicon Valley in 2013 to formalize LinkedIn’s digital accessibility efforts. Currently he is their Head of Accessibility Engineering Evangelism. In 2020, Business Insider named Jennison "1 of 30 power players helping new CEO Ryan Roslansky run LinkedIn. June is Pride Month. May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, when we celebrate how Asian and Pacific Islander communities enrich the tapestry of the US. The Mars theme for this month is Ascend Together, and our ARG has chosen to support five highly-rated Asian American non-profit organizations focused on civil rights, legal representation, education and health. Donations to this fund will be evenly distributed to the nonprofits listed here, to support and uplift the AAPI community.
