Global Fund for Women, Inc.
Global Fund for Women exists to support the tireless and courageous efforts of women’s groups who work every day to win rights for women and girls. These groups are working to ensure women can own property, vote, run for office, get paid fair wages, and live free from violence – including domestic violence, sexual assault, and harmful practices such as female genital mutilation. Global Fund for Women was awarded a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2011.
Futures Without Violence
For more than 30 years, FUTURES has been providing groundbreaking programs, policies, and campaigns that empower individuals and organizations working to end violence against women and children around the world. Striving to reach new audiences and transform social norms, they train professionals such as doctors, nurses, judges, and athletic coaches on improving responses to violence and abuse. Futures Without Violence was awarded a grant from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in 2012.
Urgent Action Fund for Womens Human Rights
Urgent Action Fund partners with women’s movements worldwide to support women’s human rights defenders striving to create cultures of justice, equality and peace. Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights is a global women’s fund that protects, strengthens and sustains women and transgender human rights defenders at critical moments. They intervene quickly when activists are poised to make great gains or face serious threats to their lives and work. Urgent Action Fund for Women's Rights was awarded a grant from the Ford Foundation in 2015.
National Womens Law Center
Since 1972, the Center has expanded the possibilities for women and girls in this country. They have succeeded in getting new laws on the books and enforced; litigating ground-breaking cases all the way to the Supreme Court, and educating the public about ways to make laws and public policies work for women and their families. Today, an experienced staff continues to advance the issues that cut to the core of women's lives in education, employment, family and economic security, and health and reproductive rights. National Women's Law Center was awarded a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2015.
Women's Refugee Commission
The Women's Refugee Commission Inc. is the only international organization dedicated solely to protecting refugee women’s rights to sexual and reproductive health care, to freedom from gender-based violence, and to economic and social empowerment. They research refugee women's needs, identify solutions and advocate for programs and policies to strengthen their resilience and drive change in humanitarian practice. Women's Refugee Commission was awarded a grant from the Ford Foundation in 2015.
