Supporting the Most Vulnerable - AIF - COVID-19, India Efforts My good friend and colleague Abi Ravindra and l had been feeling like we wanted to get involved, and make a large impact on what is currently happening across the globe due to COVID-19. We decided to focus on India given it is Abi's home & is close to the heart, but also because it's one of the places being hit the hardest. Some facts. India is the world’s second largest population at 1.3B people, and five percent of their population prior to COVID-19 were living in extreme poverty. With the lockdown + COVID-19 millions of the rural Indian population will go without work or food, and ultimately starve. It costs roughly 4000.00 rupee to feed a family of 4 in India for one month, which is about $52 US dollars. We’re asking you to make any donation between $10-$50 dollars, and help fight the devastation COVID-19 has brought to India. We understand that times are tough for everyone, so whatever makes the most sense to you; It doesn’t matter how much you can contribute, so long as it includes one zero at the end. :)

The situation in India is devastating, and it poses a global risk -- experts warn that the more the virus spreads, the more chances it has to mutate and create variants that could eventually resist current vaccines in circulation, threatening to undermine other countries' progress in containing the pandemic. The 2021 India COVID-19 Recovery Fund is composed of pre-vetted nonprofits based in the United States providing emergency response in India. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. Our Fund approach is informed by expert and local recommendations based on up to date information from disaster philanthropy and nongovernmental organization networks, such as the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. Given the ever-changing nature of this pandemic and widespread impact, the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund will evolve. The 2021 COVID-19 Phase2 - Aid India Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits based in the United States and India providing emergency response in India. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. Our fund is crafted in consultation with Intuitive's India team and our local PAN Asian Intuitive Community ERG with a focus on the desperate shortage of oxygen as well as support for acutely vulnerable populations and providing supplies for medical personnel. Given the ever-changing nature of this pandemic, and it's widespread impact, the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund will evolve as the needs change.

India has seen a record number of daily cases and lives lost to Covid-19, more than any country to date. This devastating second wave is exacerbated by the lack of adequate access to healthcare such as oxygen solutions, healthcare workers, and other resources. Here, DoorDash employees and community members can donate to the India Covid-19 Community Support Fund. Donations will be split among three US-based nonprofits supporting the response in India through both short-term emergency relief and long-term recovery. People are even dying in lines as they wait to see doctors. So far, less than 10% of its population have had the first dose of the vaccine and less than 2% are fully vaccinated. India is currently battling one of the worst outbreaks of COVID with over 300,000 reported cases per day. Hospitals are currently overwhelmed and do not have enough oxygen, beds, and ventilators to treat all patients. While the pandemic is subsiding here in the US, experts expect that India's cases will increase to 500,000/day and will not peak until mid-May. Help support India during this critical, terrible time.

Helping fight the humanitarian crisis in India. India, which hosts 1/6th of the global population, has seen a record number of daily cases and lives lost to Covid-19. It has been reporting 400k new cases every day with more than 3,500 deaths per day in this second wave, figures that are likely being under reported. With 2.4M+ active cases and 180K+ deaths reported as of late April, the COVID resurgence in India has stretched existing medical infrastructure to the breaking point with a shortage of health workers and hospital running out of beds, oxygen supplies, ventilators and anti-viral drugs. The employees of Rabobank and community can donate to the disaster response campaign to benefit responding nonprofits: UNICEF, CARE, Direct Relief, American India Foundation and Path. Rabobank will match eligible donations up to $500 per employee. Please note: donations will be counted toward employees' annual $500 match limit.
