Vision Statement: Healthy Women and Children for a Healthy Urban World

Our goal is to break the intergenerational cycle of poor health among women and children living in vulnerable settlements. Our interventions are centered around 3 principles — a) Creating evidence-based models for urban health interventions b) Advocating these models with state and central government and NGO's to scale our work through partnerships in at least 2-3 states over the next five years c) Sustaining our work through empowerment of comunities to take charge of their own health and strengthening public systems to deliver quality services.
We work in partnership with communities and health systems building effective and replicable solutions, empowering women and their families in urban slums to improve their health. We actively partner with public systems to strengthen services. This includes building trust, sharing data and using Appreciative Inquiry, a management tool that works with a strength's based approach. We also believe strongly in the strength of our communities to organize themselves, take informed decisions and support each other as well as public health staff, in delivery of services. This involves building trust in communities, intervening at individual, family and community level and building capacity to take care of their own health. All the interventions are monitored for effective results and impact.
