After a recent Board meeting, I and the rest of the parents at Saint Augustine Public Montessori School realized the financial crisis that our school is facing. There is nothing left to cut from expenses, as our school has been operating with a very tight budget this year. We have been working with the St. Johns County school district to keep our Correction Action Plan (CAP) in place. We are out of time and we must find the cash flow needed to keep our doors open. As a parent of a child in this school, I see how dedicated both the staff and the attending families are to making the small public montessori school a destination for learning in our community I, and all the parents involved, love sending our kids to SAPMS and would be heartbroken to have to shut down. There are more than 5,000 unaccompanied children in US Customs and Border Protection custody, according to documents obtained by CNN, up from 4,500 children days earlier. According to data collected by the Pew Research Center, 18,945 migrants were apprehended at the border in January and February, an increase of 168 percent. And 9,297 unaccompanied minors were apprehended at the border, a 63 percent increase. The growing number of unaccompanied children at the border is adding greater stress to the system and has overwhelmed resources, which had already been strained as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Children's rights continue to be violated at the border. Vulnerable and terrified, young boys and girls are being held in custody longer than the legal limit, being separated from their families, and more. Jackson, Mississippi, Is Facing an Emergency Water Shortage. The immediate cause of the current water shortage are the floods that began to overwhelm the Pearl River weeks ago . These floods caused issues at local water-treatment plants, essentially shutting them down. After several days without water, the National Guard was deployed last week and lines for water at emergency distribution centers formed around the capital city. Derna, a port city in eastern Libya, was the worst hit after two dams burst, killing thousands. According to the International Organization for Migration, about 30,000 people—one-third of its population—were displaced by the flooding.The devastating floods in Libya have left countless families homeless and in desperate need of assistance. In response to this crisis, the Libya Flood Disaster Relief Fund has been established to provide vital support to those affected. The hijab law has been enforced by the country’s “morality police” for over four decades, ever since the Islamic revolution, according to Euronews — and many people across Iran think it’s time for the law to be abolished, especially after Amini’s death. A 22-year-old woman, Masha Amini, was killed by morality police in Iran. In mid-September 2022, a 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish woman named Masha Amini was arrested by the morality police — because she was not wearing a hijab — while visiting Iran’s capital Tehran with her family, as reported by The New York Times. The morality police detailed Amini, and while in their custody, authorities confirmed that she died, attributing her sudden death to a heart attack. However, CT scans of Amini’s body proved that she experienced a brain hemorrhage; additionally, eyewitness accounts, as well as footage and images of Amini after she was arrested, have led many to speculate that Iran’s morality police physically beat her while she was detained, causing her to die. We have created this fund to fight the “relentless battle against the Iranian regime’s misogyny,” and advocate the right for women to choose what they wear — essentially protesting the hijab laws. Small teams of veterans into conflict zones to provide emergency medical services, refugee protection, and humanitarian relief for persecuted communities. They protect refugees and communities under direct threat by conducting extractions, providing security escorts, and working to find creative solutions to protect the innocent. Their teams serve local families by providing frontline emergency medical care and training, while also delivering situation-specific humanitarian relief. Over time, They organize and train teams of locals to provide medical care and conduct their own humanitarian relief operations with minimal outside help. We call this “Charity With Dignity.”

In support of that, we have created a “HOLIDAY GIVEBACK” campaign.  With your help, we will support 4 causes around the world, and you will get the chance to choose between one or more options: - Collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children. - Give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn, and protection from harm around the world. - Provide integrated after-school support to poor children, youth, and adults in Costa Rica. - Enhance the quality of life for older adults and other community members who are homebound and unable to provide sufficient nutrition for themselves through daily meal delivery in Durham and Wake County, NC.
